The 1:1 Coaching Experience

‘I reached out to Alison at one of the most difficult stages of my life. I was effectively struggling to process and deal with my grief at the end of a long term relationship with someone that I had spent my entire adult life with. I was also battling a constant state of dark rumination and was struggling with self-compassion, self-confidence, self-identity, self-motivation, and ultimately self-love. I was fearful and felt somewhat incapable of getting on with my life. For some reason I felt like I owed it to my ex-wife to move through the grief all by myself, without seeking support or companionship from others. I was allowing myself to care more about how she would perceive my progress through grief and the way I was dealing with my grief more than I was actually caring about myself. I still cared about her feelings more than my own.

Over about 9 months, Alison helped me understand that I needed to flip the script to move forward. To put myself first for a change, for the very first time in my life. I held onto a lot of shame and failure and held back a lot in our earlier conversations. Early on I was dreading her judgement of me, even though I knew that was irrational, I struggled to divulge the finer details of how I was dealing with my grief in our earlier sessions. Slowly she was able to crack me open and unwind the decade or so of guilt and angst that I had held onto. I came to really love and look forward to my sessions with her and I knew that I was in a completely safe space with her, without any judgement whatsoever.

Alison has this amazing ability to really hear and interpret what I was saying and to feel what I was feeling, which was no mean feat given I sometimes said very little as I tend to clam up and forget words when I’m nervous. She has an ability to compassionately articulate my fractured speech back to me in such a comprehensive manner that is so unlike what I am hearing or feeling from my own cloudy inner voice and ego. She gave me so much clarity and understanding for what I could take control of and what I could action immediately. She gave me back my longing feeling for being in control and helped structure my thought processes so that I could move through my days more easily.

I’m now very much on the other side, with help from her. My life has moved forward, I’ve re-discovered all the things about me that I used to love, and I’m now proudly and wholeheartedly sharing all those with my amazing new partner. I’m now capable of seeing nothing but success in all my current challenges and I wake up motivated, energised and passionate to take on each day at a time, and even start planning for my bright future.

Was it hard work, hell yeah, but was it worth it, without a doubt. Alison helped guide my true self back into the fairly empty shell that I recently stood here as. I’m complete again.

‘When I approached Alison, I was overwhelmed, frustrated, and exhausted. I had a great reputation as a hypnotherapist amongst existing clients and friends, but no idea how to collate my desire for business-growth into time-focussed action steps. Adding to this was a seeming inability to respect my own professional boundaries, plus a looming public speaking event which had placed me directly in the path of one of my biggest fears.

As I write this, business is growing. I take daily action steps and am booking new clients. I have identified the exact market I wish to serve and have tweaked my practise accordingly. I respect my boundaries and time. I have focus, clarity, drive, and passion. I’m actively seeking speaking events. I have a very clear action plan and structured goals. I have zero doubt these goals will be met.

In short, Alison Callan has completely changed the scope and direction of not only my Holistic Hypnotherapy practise but my approach to life.

‘When I started working with Alison it was around 6 months after I had lost my husband very suddenly.  I was in a very bleak place and was feeling completely lost.
